Title of position: Project Engineer, Process & Mechanical

Position type: Full Time

Pay range: $80,000- $135,000 Annually

Location: Westminster, Colorado

General Characteristics: Proactively lead advanced technical engineering calculations and develop project estimates for midstream oil and gas projects. Project types include, but not limited to: natural gas gathering, compression, dehydration, treating, NGL recovery, fractionation, storage, measurement, and utility systems for such projects.  Will report to Engineering Manager or Director of Engineering.

Required skills:

  • Work with Sr. Project Manager and Project Managers to develop options that can be presented to the Client with economic analyses based upon estimated costs.
  • Work with Sr. Project Manager and Project Managers to develop project schedules and project cost estimates.
  • At times will be required to fulfill the role of Project Engineer and Staff Engineer on a project.
  • Manage a team of Staff Engineers to accomplish the calculations necessary to complete a project as well as verifying the Staff Engineers' work.
  • Verify that all required codes are followed within the design of the system.
  • Verify that all engineering calculations for the project are appropriately documented.
  • Is responsible for the final design and engineering package. Stamp IFC drawings following peer PE review.
  • Must be able to accurately communicate project data to Clients/Engineers/Vendors on an ongoing basis.
  • Keep themselves abreast of industry trends and new technology that may benefit Kahuna.
  • Make significant contributions to Process Hazard Analyses.
  • Understand the Pros/Cons of different Construction Contracts (T&M, Lump Sum, Cost Plus Fixed Fee, etc.)
  • Demonstrate the basic understanding of all disciplines of Engineering and Project Execution (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Process, Electrical, Instrumentation, Construction, Procurement, etc.)
  • Perform lead and mentoring/coaching role in facility startup activities. Ensuring that all disciplines (I&E, Civil & Structural, Construction, and Operations) are organized and working together.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required experience:

  • Bachelors or Advanced degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Preferred 5-7 years experience in oil and gas.
  • Taken and passed Professional Engineering Exam (Required).
  • Strong work ethic and willing/able to travel to field/project locations.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as attention to key prioritized detail.
  • Self-motivated and able to quickly react to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Self-manage workload AND direct appropriate work to Staff Engineers.
  • Advanced technical writing skills and client/team communication skills.
